Ah, the famous arms.

Those two extra limbs that suddenly feel completely useless the moment you're in front of a camera...You're definitely not alone — it's one of the most common things people worry about during a photoshoot.

But here’s the good news: You don’t need to be a model or know how to “pose” to find simple, natural — and photogenic — movements. Here are a few ideas you can try at your next session :

✦ Interact with what's around you

Not sure where to put your hands? Let your outfit or surroundings guide you. If you are wearing a blazer for exemple, gently adjust it or hold it slightly open. A flowy dress? Grab it lightly and play with the movement. A hat, jewelry, a scarf? Perfect. The idea is to interact. To bring in some motion without feeling stiff — and to have fun with what’s around you.

✦ When sitting, place your hands with intention

It’s simple, but it makes a big difference.

If you're seated, gently rest your hands on your legs — at different levels. One higher up on your thigh, the other lower, or even on the floor. And most importantly: let go of any tension. No stiff fingers, no frozen wrists. Just a soft, natural touch. This small detail adds a sense of calm and ease to your entire posture.

✦ For a touch of femininity: express yourself with softness

Looking for something a little more gentle or feminine? Try this: Let one hand glide from your cheek to your neck and shoulder. Tuck your hair, move slowly.

Follow your hand with your gaze — let it guide the movement. You can also rest your second hand on your arm. It creates soft lines and a fluid, graceful gesture.

A little reminder: how to use your hands during a photoshoot

There’s no such thing as the right way to pose. But there are little tips that can help you feel more confident and in control in front of the camera. And when you feel good — it shows in the photos. Your arms and your hands are not in the way while doing a photoshoot — they’re part of your energy, your posture, your body language. And if you're not sure where to start, no worries — that’s exactly what I’m here for. I’ll guide you through every step of the session so you can relax, move freely… and just be yourself.

Have you ever done a photoshoot before?

What gesture helped you feel more natural in front of the camera? Share it in the comments — I’d love to hear!
